hi, well i have been looking at this gun because its in my spending range, its a basic gi modle and its blued. just woundering if its good or bad. i have read some things about them and so far its all good.
thanks.

A couple buddies of mine bought R1's when they first came out. While they are certainly a good value they have a few shortcomings, the finish seems to be wearing quickly and the trigger out of the box, for a 1911, was terrible, one of them scaled at 8lbs! Imo the Ruger SR1911 is a much better value, 70 series, much better trigger, beaver tail, extended thumb safety and mag release etc. They are a touch harder to find but if your patient you can find one without much issue.

+1

On a side note, I've spotted some SR1911 at the sporteque @ 749. A bit more expensive then Epps 712 but they have some in stock :)

I picked up a Stainless R1 1911 a few months ago. Fit and Finish is good and it is pretty accurate right out of the box. No rattles either.

The trigger would be the main area to upgrade as it is not up to what I believe 1911 standards should be.

I also plan to pick up a Ruger 1911 as the reviews have been very positive so far.

STI Spartan is also a high value gun and comes blued. Some people get bent out of shape because the frame and slide are manufactured over seas but that's a moot point IMO. They are a popular gun and there's tonnes of them around and their track record speaks for it self.

Yeah, they are parkerized though, not blued, which is probably better :)

I have the R1 Enhanced and although it was twice what I wanted to spend that day, I don't have any regrets. The gun practically shoots itself, and I'm a really s**tty shot with bad eyesight.

My pal's been running a Glock 17 for the last three years, he knows his gun inside and out, modded the $hit out of it. Then he picks up my Remington for the first time last week and groups better than he ever did with his Glock. He'll always be a Glock guy,and will forever swear by it, but he's seriously considering adding a 1911 to his collection.

If you can somehow manage it, get the R1 Enhanced.

gi got the r1911 not ss version.. got absolutely no regrets at all..! it was my first gun and i wont sell it. shoots pretty well except the 3 dots sight needs to be changed cause it shoots a lil bit low. thats all. trigger pull is a lil heavy tho.

paid 699$ + tx.

Most people can shoot a 1911 better because the single action trigger is much easier to manipulate.

Roger M. at this website is a great gent to deal with.

He is located outside Clagary AB and not to be confused with a similar business name in ON.

I have made several puchases from him.. always quality guns and good pricing !

Check the website and compare.

Roger os not a nice guy, Roger is a great guy. Also when you look at his website remember his price that he posts includes the taxes.
