toying with the idea of applying for an archery tag for this years hunt to take advantage of the 3 week earlier season and the fact that i don't think too many people up here in the north west hunt with bows.

i have bow hunted for deer with success in the past but this would be my first time trying for it for moose guess i'll have to work on stretching out the range a bit for those slightly longer shots! anyone else considering this route?
:)

I admire and respect moose bowhunters.

I have not come to the point in my hunting life where I would feel comfortable taking time off work, travelling as far as we do and spending the coin required to have a moose walk out 75 yards away and see it continue to walk away only to have a bow/crossbow in my hands.

On the contrary, I think there are lots of guys there with bows, you just don't see them.

I know guys who go every year, and will see 15-20 different bulls in a week, but getting them in to 40-60 yds is the tricky part. Any further you're risking wounding it and losing it.

Nothing like tracking a wounded bull through the boreal forest for several miles;) , not to mention the black flies:p

Been bow hunting for moose since 1979 and still apply for bow tags which are hard to get in #29. In our area we hunt calfs with guns and see lots of other gun hunters but none in the bow season. We called in three bulls last year all within 5 to 15yards and shot the 5yd one. We only had to track one over 1/2 mile sinc bowhunting moose. Most of the moose we have shot with a arrow we have seen fall. We have chased more moose shot with a gun than with bow. I gave up hunting moose with a gun to use a bow on have shot more moose and bigger spoons than the other gun camps in our area. Once hooked you will never miss gun hunt.
