Hi I've started to collect money to build an AR that would be mine and would like to know what would be a good receiver for it. Was looking at maybe a VLTOR mur-1 as an upper and then look for a good lower or should I get a matched set and if yes any recommendation. Was looking at a Rainier arms ultra match 20 inch (don"t like SBR). So any suggestion? Got no time limit so price can be a bit high I want to build a rifle that will last a while.

You would probably enjoy having a matched upper and lower more. my 2 cents. As far as a barrel goes, I just put a DD 18" S2W barrel on my AR. Amazing barrel for the distribution of weight and accuracy. With a low end 1-4 optic and factory ammunition, I was able to do 1.5 MOA. with a bit of practice, I imagine that I could do sub MOA with practice. If your only goal is for the gun to last a long time, then you can flex pretty substantially on the barrel however. If you are going for accuracy, I'm sure the Rainer barrel would be a food fit. Another thing to consider would be optics though.

Check out AERO precision upper lowers, very well priced and very tight fitment. I am building 2 currently and should have them done shortly. They are nice to work with and available in lots of colors not just black.
