How much does this operation run? Is it going to be as good as the factory model DMs? Any disadvantages to this, besides dropping the mag?

I've tried the Kwik-Klip and sold them both.....flimsy contraptions. They are shorter than a factory mag box...they work better with standard cases like 270-30-06 etc. than they do with belted mags...the factory setup is miles ahead...this is all assuming you are referring to a Remington 700 rifle...

I've done quite a few over the years, there are some things you need to understand.
1: they do not always just drop int, there can be some considerable fitting on some.
2: As stated, they are a tad shorter than normal, so your handloads will be
"OAL/mag fitted" which may be shorter than optimum.

3: they must be pefectly bedded, as they flex very easily and can be stressed when bolted up tight. One little bump or jar in this instance and they brak right at the trigger guard!

The good thing is they can be easily repaired with tig welding and high gloss barbeque paint!:D

I had a new SPS DM in .243 for about 1/2 hr. Work the bolt and every cartridge in the mag flew out the top. Took it back and swapped for the top feed. My ten year old likes to shoot it. Magazine problems on 700 DMs are common.

Kwik Clip Conversion

I put a kwik clip in my 270 about 20 some years ago and I love it. I got an extra clip and am very happy with the whole setup. My brother also has one on his 270 and he is also happy with his. Just my experience and opinion FWIW

Hinged floorplates are idiotproof, they always work, they never get lost, so why is it so many guys want to take a 100% flawlessly operating rifle and bubba it into a ,works most of the time, when I can find it, if I ain't lost contraption that they have to pay extra for?????
Kwik Clips = garbage

I am a fan of DM's, however if I had a rifle with a floorplate, I would leave it as is. If I can't find the cal I want with a DM, I'd go with the floorplate. 700 SPS DM are good, or if you want stainless get a Tikka, Sako or Savage.

Well it is nice to have the backup clip when hunting not that it is needed often but the comfort is there. I have been reluctant to get a kwik clip conversion and I probably won't since I don't want some plastic junk. I have downloaded a Remington parts list that I am wondering if a guy could just buy the parts and make the necessary changes? They come in both SS and standard and are listed for magnums as well.

I am currently in the process of converting my Model 700 BDL DM to a hinged floor plate because I don't like the DM. I've had feeding problems with it from day 1. I've had it back to the gunsmith several times and find that it's always been tempermental. It's never been able to feed round nose ammunition and sometimes shells spit out of the magazine when I'm loading the mag. I've just ordered a used BDL stock over the exchange forum and I am looking for the remaining parts for the hinged floor plate.

I'm going to hang on to the original stock and parts thought just in case.

Other than that, I absolutely love the Remington Model 700, especially in the powerful.35 Whelen.
