If you are just getting into bird hunting (upland or migratory), I would slow down on the SxS shotgun idea...There are a lot of opinions on SXS's, but you will find most people who own one are fairly experienced upland hunters. Many say SxS's are a superior upland gun for fast flying birds, but they tend to be expensive (for a good one), and you may find an over / under far more advantageous when you are learning. You can shoot clays and birds with an o/u, and they are normally a better bang for the buck. Pick a 28 inch barrel if you think you will be hunting both migr & upland, a 26 if your just hunting upland. If you find you like upland hunting (and you likely will), buy a SxS prior to getting too old to walk. Otherwise, an o/u or even your 870 will do just fine. Still want a SxS? Try CZ for a low to mid price range, and Ruger for a mid price range. Cheers.
