so, does anyone here have one or know much about them. How do they compare to the Sigs like the 226?

There are two different people selling versions of them in the Exchange with aftermarket barrels.
I'm hoping that, now that we are getting the SIG P229's coming into Canada with extended factory barrels, we might get SIG PRO's with factory barrels too. The barrels are the same length on both guns in the States (99mm, 3.9 inch).
I have never shot one of these, but I imagine they compare quite favorably with other polymer pistols on the market.

The only real downside to them is that the trigger pull is not as good as on the P226 (although I have to say a lot of the American-made P226s I've used have rubbish trigger pulls) and it's harder to smith them than the P226, because there are less aftermarket bits for them.
If you want one for target shooting I have to say the P226 in .40 S&W makes more sense, it's less esoteric, especially in Canada.
The original P2340 isn't made anymore, and it had some problems with it, like the odd method of attaching a light, and the decocking lever had a sharp edge that could cut your thumb.
Sauer only make the SP2022 now, as far as I'm aware.
Get one of those and you'll be in good shape.

Yeah, but the P229 barrels are made in the US, the SIG Pro barrels are made in Germany. That's the problem. Whether Sauer will do a run of 50 106mm barrels like SIG Arms did is an open question.
Maybe they'll do a suppressed version of the SP2022 though and that barrel would solve the problem. I think I saw a picture of a suppressed SP2022 on their website.
Good grief! Was it really only 50? ...with no plans for more? I hadn't heard that, but it wouldn't surprise me if it were true. I'm really glad I picked up my P229R 9mm when I did. Who knows how many more there will be. I shoot this pistol better than anything else (other than maybe a target gun or something weird), by a noticable margin. Love that gun!

I think it was 50 of each, if I remember what P&D told me, 50 .40s and 50 9mms.
I've handled them before, and in my opinion, I'd stick with my P226. I found it kinda in the middle, not quite a compact gun and not quite a full size. The overall thickness of the gun is slightly more than the P226 (at least that's what I felt when I handled it). If I had a choice, I'd stick with the P226, but then again, if you're talking about the batch that Dlask is selling, the price is definitely too attractive to pass up.
