I'm thinking of getting my PAL, maybe sometime next summer. I was just wondering what the total cost is for a PAL and how much the Hunter's Safety Course is? I live in Sask if that makes a difference.

I paid 225$ for PAL and Hunting courses/licenses. Restricted was another 140$. It wasn't cheap, but it was well worth it.
I highly reccommed you go for it.

Thanks guys, kind of around the amounts I was thinking. I want to take the Hunter Safety and regular firearm course. I'm not really concerned with the restricted course as I don't want any handguns. I'm not even thinking of buying a firearm right away, just want to take the course for something to do and so I could go hunting if I wanted. I've actually never gone hunting, but it is something I want to take up if for nothing else but to teach my son how to do it when he gets old enough. Do the teach how to clean game and make proper shots in the Hunter Safety course? I suppose once I get the courses I could always go along with someone for a season and see how it was, several guys I work with go hunting.

You may not want handguns...............yet.

Plus, don't forget, there are rifles and shotguns that fit into the restricted class.

If money is not a problem, consider getting it at the same time. It's a good thing to have even if you never use it.

Just my opinion.

you can shop around it seems that the course costs vary quite abit. I just finished assisting an instuctor teach a CFSC, and a Sask hunter safty course, cost was $65 for both, would be anouther $65 for the restricted. Then unlike many courses, it is anouther $20 for the practical, this cost was for the ammo that the class shot at the gun club, it included shooting .22, center fire, muzzleloader, and shotgun. What better way to learn about guns than to actually go and shoot them, and also to end the course with a day at the range, is pricless

I was stupid.

Back in the nineties, my friend said, get your FAC. The government is going to tighten up. You never know now what you will need in the future.
Well, I didn't. The government tightened up, so I cannot possess prohibs.

Having a Restricted PAL is insurance. Don't wait until you need it and you don't have it. Consider it a good investment. Even if you have to deny yourself other pleasures for a while to pay for it, do it.

Was that in Saskatoon? I live in Saskatoon and that sounds like a good deal, I would be interested in it for sure.
