thinking of picking up a 94/22...

Because they're easy to take apart, you can easily inspect the insides for wear. I know of no known design problems with these rifles, they are well-built and designed. Very rugged and accurate. You won't be disappointed. My 9422M is one of my favourite rifles.

I have had several, the ones made by Winchester, before it was bought out by USRA seem to be the best made, some of the figure in the wood of the early guns is outstanding.

If you keep the take down screw EXTREMELY tight, these guns will really shoot. I have a cousin who has a fair sized ranch in Alberta, ha has an early 94-22 that he bought used. He has put over 60,000 rds thru his (he only has one .22, and .22 shells are a tax deduction for him, so he knows how many he has used) in the 25 years he has had it! It doesn't have a bit of blueing of finish left onthe gun anywhere.

I have cleaned it twice for him, he now just takes it down, removes the bolt and sprays alll the internals with LPS-1, Lets it sit for an hour, and blows it clean with compressed air. He then reasembles it and is set for another 5 years.

And yes he does shoot a lot of gophers!, and badgers, porkys, jack rabbits.... I have gone gopher hunting with him and shot out 700 rds or over, and he loads and shoots faster than me. He regularily hits gophers offhand at 100 yards, with the stock open sights! Beware of the man with just one .22!
