Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on where to get a thinner front sight post for my AR. The one that came with my Norc is quite thick, and covers the majority of the target paper at 50y. I did a bit of googling and found these:

http://www.amazon.ca/KNS-Precision-AR15-Sight-Black/dp/B007DN5QRO/ref=pd_sxp_grid_i_0_0

They seem reasonably priced, and reviews are positive, however I am not sure I need 7 of them, and I would prefer something that is slim all the way down, as opposed to just at the tip.

Alternatively, has anyone had any luck maybe filing theirs down carefully, or somehow making it skinnier? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Take the front sigh post out, chuck it in a drill or drill press and as its spinning, profile it to the shape you want with a file.
Done it a couple of times this way and it works perfect for me.

If something screws up, relatively cheap to replace.

You were able to order individual ones from Brownells but now they only sell them in the kit. Well, you can buy the kit, take the one you want and sell the remaining on the EE.

Humm, might have to try that drill press option since I've got a couple of the standard ones kicking around.
