As some of my closer nutter friends know, I am moving (actually moved) to an apartment due to personal reasons. Unfortuately my collection on long guns has to be cut down to maybe 8 or 9 rifles.

I have one mildly used Sako Bararian Carbine, which is my go-to rifle. I absolutely adore it. Because I am a bit OCD, I had purchased a back-up rifle that I scored from Lebaron for 10% off. I still paid over $2500 for it out the door.

One of them has to go, and I need your opinion on fair prices:

My shooter has about 60-70 rounds down the barrel, is completely stock, and has a few minor handling marks on the stock. The bluing is not perfect, but I would say 90%. The bore is pristine. No scope. Chambered in 30-06. I am the second owner. I bought it from a friend out west. I would classify her as a lightly used working gun.

My back-up rifle is brand new and has a particularly beautiful walnut stock. I still have the original box, tools, everything that came with it. Chambered in 30-06.

Just for those that don't know, these rifles have sights, 20 inch barrels, and full-length Bavarian style stocks.

My shooter will group 1.5 inches at 50 meters using just the irons and my aging eyes... which is really hard to beat in a hunting configuration.

Both rifles are truly "premium" in build quality.

Thanks!

Keep the one you have used, sell the other, it will have retained more value. Plus you will be more willing to keep using it as opposed to the safe queen. I looked at your collection of pics and your taste in firearms is great. Hope this helps, good luck

I agree. Why sell the imperfect specimen for less money, and then start marking up the perfect one?

Depending upon what kind of wear marks we are talking about, I might be inclined to swap stocks and keep the nicer wood on the better shooting metalwork, if you are aware of a significant accuracy difference between the two.

A quick google search seems to have prices from $1900-$2150 in Canada for one in 30-06. I would say that a good condition used one would probably sell for $1700 or so.

Well I just got a very good offer for my used one, so it's now gone. Now I have to decide whether or not I keep my safe queen listed on EE.

The only offer I got was from a guy out east (newbie) that wanted his unlicensed daughter to pick it up on his behalf. I said no. He wasn't happy!

Don't get too carried away with this "selling stuff" nonsense...you're gonna wind up kicking yourself later!:)

Hope you don't 'have to' sell it, but if you do, bearkilrs quote looks to be in the right ballpark. I fairly recently acquired a 'somewhat' similar Sako, model A III in .270 Win.

It belonged to a friend and I purchased it as he was no longer able to use it. Sadly, he passed away two days ago. He's the gentleman on the far left during our last Moose hunt together.
