This forum completly dies off every year about this time.

talkin about barrel lenght, is it possible to have a fluted barrel cut and recrowned to say 20-22"?
 
I brought my (since sold) Rem 700 SPS Varmint 204 to the F-class clinic this past April. People got a good laugh or two when the 32gr VMax's started disintegrating in mid-flight on its way to the 300yd target :D
 
I am thinking the biggest thing the 204 has going for it is just freaky speed and gopher guts.
How has experience with the 20 practical? I would like to try it out.

my current rig is a rem700 XCR tactical LR and when I get my new barrel installed I want to keep that fluted barrel and install it on a hunting rig. 20'' would provide a perfect balance with this barrel contour, but since it's fluted I'm not sure I could have it cut and recrownd. Since hunting in my location doesn't call for the longest of shots, 20'' is plenty enough for the task. Took a moose last week with my XCR but it was only 200 feet away lol :D
