Here is an old Stevens 14 1/2 Little Scout which incredibly is in like new condition even though it hasn't been manufactured since 1932. This was sold a couple of weeks ago at on online auction out of St. Augustine, about 70 miles north of us here on the coast.
Because the auctioneer's daughter was headed for a little town south of us, she stopped by and personally delivered it to me. That's when she told me the consignor had said it sat in his gun safe for 30 years, ever since his Dad died and left it to him. He also said he didn't think Dad had ever fired it. I can believe THAT.
I was astonished when I saw the online photos with the offering. It looked like new. I don't think any other collectors could believe their own lying eyes and ignored it. I lucked out!
In the photo above notice the screw head slots, and the slot in the takedown bolt are sharp as new. and ALL stampings are still sharp and deep.
I wish I could find ALL my collectibles in similar condition.
