the reason for the long distance between the face of the frizzen and its pivot point, relative to a recessed breach is that the pan cover portion of the frizzen rises more vertically when it is opening. That is necessary to clear the shoulder of the recess at the breach. When I reconverted a double shotgun, back to flint, I made the right lock with the correct distance by accident. I thought that I would be smart and move the pivot closer to the vent hole on the left lock and that was a major mistake. At some point I have to remove the pan and make a new one plus modify the frizzen to have the correct distance
Afraid my abilities at rebrowning damascus barrels is not quite as good as Licensed to Kill suggests. Some patterns just jump out at you with minimal work while others never seem to achieve a good contrast. The barrels below are better than average as far as contrast but my main reason for posting it is to show a case where the gunsmith apparently grabbed two barrels out of a stack and fastened them together, only to find that when finished and browned, they had different patterns on them
