The "Extinct" thread got me googling upland bird species and I came across this page.

Specifically, read the part about the causes of the near extinction of the burrowing owl.

What a bunch of bullish!t propaganda.

I kind of thought they meant that hunters were killing off lots of gophers, badgers and prairie dogs therefore making it way harder for the owls to find suitable abandoned dens to nest in thus putting a strain on the owl populations. No owl hunters but more the law of unintended consequences for gopher, badger and prairie dog hunters.

Similar green propaganda can be observed at the Athabasca Glacier. Many of the signs imply that Human activity is to blame for the shrinking of this glacier, which has in fact been shrinking since the mid-19th century. One needs to learn to tune this sort of thing out in order to enjoy much natural sightseeing.

Glaciers have been shrinking since the end of the last ice age. Also if you look back through history and I mean millions of years over 90% of the species that have been alive on this earth are now extinct. Cruel facts.

It sure doesn't read that way to me, but I get what your saying.
