I went to the local gunshow this weekend with low expectations of finding any good Mausers but was very surprised to find a decent selection of milsurps and several good Mausers.

This one is a Peruvian 1909. I love the crest on these with the "Mauser Original" roll stamping. It is all numbers matching right down to the screws and shows some spectacular fit and finish. Everything about these just oozes quality. I got a super deal on this one and couldn't believe my luck. It isn't one of the unissued ones you see from time to time, but it is in pretty nice condition with a mirror bore. Super happy to add this one to my collection.

This one is a Syrian Mauser. Basically a Yugo M48A. The bolt is a m/m but everything else matches and it is one of the nicer Syrian Mausers I've seen.

Decent Peruvian 1909s are difficult to come by at best. One with matching numbers is the finding the Holy Grail.

According to the internet, the Peruvians used to have an annoying habit of removing their bolts when in storage and when they stacked them together in the field during bivouac. This practise led to almost all of them having mismatched bolts.

Lovely Mauser rifles. Good find on the Syrian as well.

The Peruvian is spectacular, and I like the Syrian too. There's something about the wood the Yugos wear that I find attractive - a very bold grain pattern, much like Elm.

you already know that, but the Peruvian one is such a beaut!! Good for you! right place, right time or did you know it was coming up and made sure you were there cash in hand?

I was about the third person through the door and the first at the table with the Peruvian on it. As soon as I saw the price on it there was no hesitation. It was going home with me. Just luck I guess. The show here has been really poor as far as milsurps go the last few years and I really wasn't expecting to find anything let alone these two hard to find Mausers.
