Project Never Clean is now in year 3. The past four months have marked a new type of abuse for the chopped SKS-D. The humidity of basement suite living has wreeked havoc on the bore of this Czech ammo polluted SKS rifle. The rifle has not been shot in probably a year. I will not clean it before shooting. Just oil the moving parts. If it ever get assembled again.

Forgive the poor quality photo, the flash was being angry.

throw some salt on its wounds! was this an intentional 3yr 'project'?
It stared out as a do not clean project. Then the SKS got hacked on, attacked by a grinder and welded while working on the SKS-47 project.

Since moving to the city (lame!) I don't have the nice big, fully equipped, farm shop to play in. I have no work shop space at all. Everything is on hold. Which sucks because I have some awesome half finished projects. Everything from a golf ball launcher muzzle attachment to a CO2 powered beer can mortar.

i hear you on the city move and loosing the shop... hate it.... have a decent amount of tools, none of which i get to use any more :( if i want to do metal work, i get to do it on my 4'x6' balcony... needless to say not very many projects get done. though i have gone so far as to weld/grind out there lol. keeping in mind i also have a bbq out there, and a planter.... *sigh*

Uhh, you might wan't to clean some of the rust out of the bore. In extreme cases, the rust reduces the bore diameter enough to cause extremly high pressure(yes this is the voice of experience).

Doesn't piss me off at all .
It's your gun and your stuck in the city .lol
At least make sure the firing pin rattles around first .
If this is truly a 3 year torture test , lash it to a bench and tie a string around the trigger , then get to a safe area and give it a tug .
You know the outcome of this could have important scientific ramifications .lol

It's an SKS - I think it's great!

Another thing they're good for is to extend the handle of a Jack-All when you're trying to lift something really heavy, or you could weld a foot of tubing over the spout and use it for a very fashionable snipe!

Note to self: Don't buy an SKS off Armedsask, even if it's a really good deal...
