A few squirts of WD and some scrubbing with a brush. Swab it all out and go fire it. It will fire/function and I bet, shoot no worse then it did the last time it saw the light of the range.

Your basement humidity may be bad but certainly no worse then the jungles of Vietnam. Seemed to work ok in that environment.

Exactly! WD is the magic!
 
IMHO WD-40 is crap for firearms, under heat and friction it breaks down, and leaves yah with a gritty grinding mess.
It's meant to be used as a water displacement formula, and removing a squeak from grandmas tea cupboard, and that's about it.
