I was wondering if there was anyone out there who would know where I might find an Adjustable rear sight for a 1928 Thompson SMG. I'm trying to outfit some of the uniforms we have here at the CWH Museum with WW2 era weapons. I got my hands on some Airsoft King Air Thompsons that fill the ticket quite well. Only problem is, the sight is of a lower more user friendly grade for the airsoft community. I checked it against a real Thompson and found that the sight would fit without any trouble. This would give the gun a nice authentic air. If this works out, I could be looking to purchase at least six sights, one will do for now. I've made some inquiries to different gun shops across Canada (Ellewood Epps, Marstar, Western) and your site came highly recommended. Getting one from the states is definitly out of the question as it is a federal offence to transport any part of this type of weapon cross border. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Marstar

It was Marstar that put me onto this site, they seemed prety sure that this was my best shot at finding one here in Canada. And thank you for the welcome, I've had a good look over the site and am impressed! You have a great crew here!

Contact Marstar, if you haven't already. They are a board sponsor, and something like this seems right up their alley.

Welcome to CGN!

Hmmm...

Maybe get yourself access to the Equipment Exchange, and place a want to buy ad, and see what turns up.

Yes, the crew here is top notch, but some amonngst us would be well-advised to stay out of the rum... ;)

OOH!!! Just had another thought (Actually I had it while at work... don't tell the boss, K? He likes me today.)

Don't limit your search to North America. A bunch of folks here have obtained repalcement sights for their Norinco M14 copies from some Ebay dude in Italy named Andy... none of this ITAR cr@p to get in your way.

If I was an Italian with a half-dozen tommy guns in my man cave, I'd hacksaw them all up for you, but you'd have to give me a ride in your Lancaster and/or your F-86 as a partial trade. :)

I'll check it out, as for the ride in the Lanc, not before me man, not before me, LOL and the F-86 is owned and operated by Vintage Wings out of Gatneau Quebec. Unfortunately it's only a single seater. I at least got to have a seat in it.

Italians can register SMG's unlike Canadians. The real issue is real TSMG Lyman sights, fixed or adjustable are costly. The current manufacturer of TSMG's makes a copy that might be cheaper. I would make a copy of the mount out of plastic...easy to work with and you don't need the sight. I have an original 1928 conplete sight in the box.
