Thompson/Center’s R-55® All Weather anyone have one?

Anyone here have any experience with this rifle I saw a guy at the range with a blued target model and it was amazingly accurate.

Looking at getting something like this for grouse hunting.

Thompson/Center’s R-55® All Weather

T/C’s R-55® All Weather is the best of both worlds. Its stainless steel receiver and barrel, combined with a durable composite stock, makes it suitable for any number of tasks, in all kinds of weather. The R55 comes chambered in the 22LR, one of the best varmint calibers and one of the most affordable to shoot.
#6825

It’s 20" match grade barrel with target crown is threaded into the receiver for maximum rigidity and “tack driving” accuracy. The fully adjustable fiber optic rear sight and ramp style fiber optic front sight are easily picked up even in low light conditions.

I have two, your eyes weren't fooling you, it has a match grade shillen barrel and is very accurate, beat out only by a 1710 but just barely. I can only get it to feed cci minimags and cci stingers, i have several 10 round magazines and have had to fiddle with all the feeding ramps and sand them down so the angle is the same otherwise the bullet doesn't feed into the tight chamber, bullets that don't have smooth heads do not feed well at all. I was out shooting with my 6 year old who shots a cz scout (with match ammo at the time) and he tried the TC r-55 all weather and ended up taking it from me as he could should it more accurately. It is more accurate than the CZ. Its a wonderfull rifle, many bad reports on feeding but once you get yours figured out it will become your favorite 22 to shoot. I have not had a single ftf, now with 3000k rounds of cci minimags since fiddling with the mags. Mine has outshot many cz 452's at the range, its as accurate as they claim. PM on the way as to where to buy one for a good price, I had a new one listed for $500 shipped but pulled the ad as I'm keeping it since the 6 year old swiped the other one.

I have a blued target model. Very accurate with CCI Standard. Accuracy was as good as most bolt actions in the CZ452 accuracy class. My Ruger 10/22 shoots almost as well, but it requires Lapua super club to do so. Also that Ruger seems to be an exception in the accuracy department for a stock target model. While the Thompson isn't. Lineofsight's Thompson shoots very nice groups at 50 yards with CCI standard. I wouldn't hesitate to get any of their new .22LR rifles for hunting/plinking. It's a fantastic and very accurate semi auto right out of the box. Solid steel receiver!!

One thing I noticed however with mine. The trigger is good, but it's odd. Also it's a bit heavy. If I try to squeeze slowly and let the shot break like a regular target rifle, I get the odd flyer. However when I squeezed very quickly, the rifle was a complete tack driver, giving some high end bolt actions a real run for the money.

Yes that was you I shot your CX4 as well and that was also a solid little rifle I have to say I was very impressed with the accuracy/your shooting skills with the R-55. :)

PM sent with contact info for a dealer.

What are you planning to scope it with (though all weather does come with fibre optic sight)? Have a 3-9x 40mm Leapers and now knowing how it shoots am thinking of swapping a 6-18x 40mm Buckmaster from another rifle over.

Mine is topped with a leupold vx11 3-9x40. weaver makes bases but can order t/c bases and rings from the dealers for not a bad price. Too accurate not to scope.

Was out shooting with my 6 year old today. He has shot a case (5000) rounds of CCI minimags through the T/C R-55 this summer, breaking it in. Thought I would try some subsonic eley sport, just for fun at 50 yards to see how accurate the gun is. I am no crack shot and was shooting off a bipod with a leupold vx 3 1.5-5 scope ( swapped out the vx 2) and this is the first and only 10 shot group I got. No ftf, no fte, no failures of any kind. cycled beautifully and shot low, obviously as its sighted for the minimags which are hotter

Farlsincharge, why are these not flying off the shelves? They are cheap and deadly accurate!! My anschutz 54 has a hard time keeping up.
