Thompson Center Encore

Yes = just remove the two fore end screws, remove the fore end, open action, drive cross pin out, remove barrel,

Reverse to install other barrel.

I use a small brass head hammer and brass punch to drive the cross pin in/out.

I have 3 Gen 1 Contender frames 1 G2 Contender frame and 11 carbine barrels I interchange all of them.

I always check point of impact after switching barrels to confirm zero.

How far off do you find your POI changes when you switch barrels? I find about a half an inch when I switch.

I have an Encore with FlexTech stock set on it. I'm also thinking about trimming my 25-06 barrel.

What does a gunsmith charge for this job?

1/2" - 1" but sometimes there is no change.

I feel it has to do with the torque of the 2 fore end screws if it is consistant the change is minimal as well as the tightness of the cross pin.

Guntech (Dennis Sorenson) charged $40.00 each to shorten and recrown my barrels I sent enough of a payment to cover the return shipping.

the problem you're going to have buster is if you want the bigger cals they're all discontinued and pretty much have to buy used. I couldn't find a stainless 375 H&H so I bought the first one I found and it's the blued 26". I did get a new in box 28" 416 rigby. I've been looking for a stainless 28" 12g rifled to replace the one I had that had a defect but having a hard time getting one.

The pro hunter are available in 375 H&H and 416 Rigby.

Since S&W took over a lot of the cals were discontinued when they moved. I was told last year when they were having difficulty with export that they had no plans to bring the production back to what it used to be. Hope they do someday, but try to find one......

Just as an example, go to gun broker and look up encore barrels. You won't find as many as a few years ago. Production isn't what it used to be @T/C..... when they owed me a replacement barrel for my 12g rifled barrel I tried to get a 375 or 416 and that's when I got into the discussion with them about all the cals they were discontinuing. They still list them but they weren't available, hopefully it changed or will change in the future but at the time they had no plans of bringing them back. Go to cabela's canada web site and they still list them but try putting it in your cart "discontinued" is what you'll get.

Fergie.17 you're right I have contacted S&W and they told me no more 375 H&H and 416 Rigby, too bad.

I know I'm right, I try and tell my wife but she never believes me...... LOL. Are you looking for a pro hunter? Lebaron's had a few in there specials pages for 750 $ but sold out. They're updating there supplement pages and I wouldn't be suprised if they hav a few back up after some inventory checking..... keep checking them out.
Get one, you won't regret it......

if anyone is interested, epps just posted this morning a 28" ss fluted 25-06 and a 28" ss fluted 7-08....... my wife told me I had too many at the moment. LOL
