I have 2 pre G2 stainless steel Contender carbine frames and 5 carbine barrels and bought my original rifle chambered in 30-30 but sent it down to the States when we still could and had it rechambered to a wildcat called 308Bellm = 150gr @ 2600fps.
Shot this buck Nov 28/08 with the 308Bellm barrel/cartridge @ 210 yards.
Switched barrels to a 223 and shot this coyote in early Jan 09.
Here is a pic of a 300 yard target shot with the 223 I am constantly amazed at the accuracy of this little rifle, I load 25.5grs H322 powder measure dumped (not individually weighed) and loaded with 40gr Hornady V-Max bullets @ 3440fps.
The scope on this barrel is a Burris Mini 3-9X ballistic plex which has the regular duplex reticle then 3 small dot on the bottom post.
The top 2 shots are with the 2nd dot down held at almost the exact elevation of the hits and the 3 shot group is with the 2nd dot held on the red dot.
All I can say is amazing...
Or you can switch to a 22LR barrel and go grouse hunting here are my 2 son's with a grouse from a few weeks ago.
Here is a pic of my different rifles that I have now.
Top to bottom...
21" factory tapered 223 Rem
21" factory tapered 375 Win rechambered to 375JDJ
22" Fox Ridge Outfitters' Custom Shop bull 45-70
16.5" Fox Ridge Outfitter's Custom Shop 22LR Match Chamber
18.5" Fox Ridge Outfitters Custom Shop 10mm
21" factory tapered 30-30 rechambered to 308Bellm (308WinX444)
I also shot a 6' black bear this spring with the 375JDJ loaded with 260gr bullets @ a muzzle velocity of 2300fps I have a Leupold Vari X 111 2.5-8X B&C reticle scope on this one with 260gr Accubonds it hits 1" high@ 100 yards, first B&C line down is 1" low @ 200 yards and the second B&C line down is dead on @ 300 yards and the bullet is still doing appr 1800fps.
I was shooting the 45-70 barrel that has a Leupold Vari X 2 1-4X duplex reticle scope yesterday with the scope set on 4X and loaded with my reloaded 325gr Hornady FTX loads they average 1800fps with these bullets and I have it sighted in 1 1/2" high @ 100 yards and the top of the bottom reticle post is dead on @ 200 yards.
Yes I would definately recommend the G2's...
