A buddy of mine has a Thompson /Center Hawken Rifle kit. He is thinking of selling it and is wondering about value...
This is an UNBUILT kit from the 1970s still in the box with all parts..54 caliber, percussion cap.. I can't seem to find much info on the net for them. Any info would help.

Thanks for the time.

From what I've seen, I'd suggest the fit and finish and overall quality would be comparable to the Lyman kit and therefore cost comparison should give you an idea. I've used both the T/C Hawken & I have Lyman a Hawken GP in .54 I built from a kit 25 or so years ago, they are both nice rifles and good shooters.

Today the Lyman kit retails at WSS for $519; a LOT more than I paid for the same kit 25 years ago!

I don't know whether T/C still provides the kit.

Only my 0.02 there of course on the comparison, personally I say it's a valid comparison though ;)

I should add a lot of my experience is from those rifles from the '70's & '80s - both offered similar (decent/good) quality during the era of the kit you are looking at. IMO.

TC no longer makes side lock traditional rifles. The kit with parts are marked with a "K" would not be worth as much as a factory finished gun.TC is head and shoulders above a Lyman. Some where in the neighborhood of $350-$400 for the kit.Harold
