Was in at Bass Pro today and they had a TC ICON in 308 with a blued barrel and a Hogue synthetic stock. I really liked the gun, any feedback on them? How do they shoot? Cheers,

Patrick

Full bedding block, free floating 5R rifled barrel, adjustable trigger, bolt lock... Lot to like.

Will shoot mine this week and can let you know.

----

EDIT - shot it, its a shooter, 150gr Speers BT, sub MOA. Too bad (sportster) barrel warms up so quick, is accurate enough that want to keep shooting it.

The plastic mag is unfortunate on the Icon (a WSS saleman told me you could drive a truck over it without it breaking!!!!! LOL). I know Tikka, Sako A7 etc all have a plastic mag but I really find them unappealing.

They work well, but will they work in 20 years? I know of Steyr Mannlicher owners who had their plastic mags break or perish and cant find replacements or when they do they are astronomically expensive. Surely a basic metal mag couldn't add more than another $50 to the rifle?? New polymers are great, but I just prefer steel...

No experience with the Weathershield, but my "Field Grade Walnut" has been turning out some great groups so far with what little load development I've accomplished. The short bolt throw, integral scope base, 5R rifling, aluminum bedding block, free floating bbl...I must say that I am very happy with this purchase of mine......which I waited far too long for. Just take the time to compare prices with more than one dealer. No need to be paying $1000 anymore. I bought mine thru Wantalls and saved over $200 bucks!!
:D

TC Icons used to come with the printed test groups...maybe they still do? My 308 had a group of .132"! Now I have never shot a group that good with my Icon but I never tried the recommended load either. My Icon shoots consistent 1/2" groups with Federal Gold Medal match ammo and consistent 3/4" groups with my hunting handloads. The T/C test loads are shot with 36x target scopes indoors with perfect conditions so I doubt I could replicate their results except by accident. That said my Icon is the most accurate rifle I own. A bit heavy but not excessive. Like some other posters I am not a fan of the clip but overall the gun is well worth it. My .02.

My 3 round group

This is the group I got with a 150gr Rem Core Lokt bullet and a max charge of IMR 3031 (43.5grs), Win brass & primer.
The two holes touching at top of target were with H380

Having shot two of them at the range last fall ( that why i bought one ) i can honestly say that they are the Icon and the Venture the most accurate rifle i ever shot and i did shot a lot of them... Last fall both were shot with federal power shot 150 grs and win Super X 180 gr SP, very basic ammo ( Read low end ) and both rifle where shooting under one inch, half of the groups being half inch... So impress, i bought one before they notice and raise the price of them, now if mr, Mailman can bring me my Icon... Cheers. JP

Got my Icon WS 308 a while ago shot my TRG hanloads with it ,it is a GEM, shot several .25 groups so i went to le Baron in Montreal and bought a Icon Precision Hunter in 308 an last week go better groups than my Trg-22,i am still in shock, now i went and preorder a Warlord 308, aint nobody stopping me now, bought 2 since 3 weeks a third one on its way and a month ago did not even know TC products. how much is the warlord up here?

With my member card that give 10% it come up to 2900.00, pretty fair price i think, i paid my Precision Hunter Icon 308 900.00 out of the door, Le Baron really lowered their price lately they cant keep the stuff on the shelves an as soon something in, guys like me jump on it... Cheers. JP.

And as a bonus to their incredibile accuracy those Icon rifles with their 5r rifling system are as maintenance free as it get, those rifles are new, broke them down proprely and they just dont get any copper at all, those are wonderfulls rifles and to say a month ago i did not even care for TC products, you are never to old to discover amazing things... JP.

Just locate a TC Precision hunter Icon in 243 at Le Baron in Ottawa, went to Le Baron in Montreal and i bought it should be in my hand by Friday. The Icon is my new way of life... JP.
