I'm after a .22lr for some plinking on the farm. I have been looking at this for rifle for a while. Have seen a couple of bad reviews in regards to the quality control: canted front sights for example. It would be an online purchase as I don't have a LGS. What are people's experiences? Thanks

Thanks for the heads up. I see it's on sale. Unfortunately it's a 4 hr drive round trip. I was thinking of an online purchase. I read the reviews and saw some issues. I did a search on here but didn't see much. My main concern is if the QC is an issue.

I have two which were bought online from Cabelas last time they were on sale. I had no issues with the sights on either gun, but did not use them long before mounting Bushnell TRS 25 red dots and really like that setup. The factory rear peep is quite low so you will need to smoosh the face to see through it while the red dot sits perfectly. Triggers are not terrible but all over the place for weight, one is 4.5 lbs and the other is at 2.5 to 3 lbs. Mcarbo makes springs for these, I have some now just to find some extra time to install. Great fun, light (4lbs 7oz) plinkers for steal or cans or whatever. No regrets here

Thank you. Much appreciated. It's always a gamble whem buying unseen especially with Cabelas no return on firearms policy. I've had my eye on it for a while and thought it would be fun to have on the farm for plinking or just to throw in the truck.

I had mine out a bunch this week. Good accurate, reliable fun. I have a pair and am surprised how much different the triggers are.

Mine came with a slightly canted front sight. Simple matter of loosening the barrel, rotating it to the proper front sight position, and re-tightening. Should have been caught at the factory, but no big deal to rectify.

Bought one in november last year, came without the action screw from factory.

I'm still waiting for it, support is absolutely terrible.

The rifle itself is really nice tho. Too bad their QC and CS are so lame.

Yeah, ITAR prevent them from shipping it straight to me, nobody stocks it in Canada apparently and nobody as the decency to take it from one of their complete rifle so I can finally get it... Being told they're working on getting me one for months, nothing happens.

And it is not the same as a 10/22 screw sadly. Same threads but not the same lenght and head size.

Man that is shocking. For something made in the US, I would expect way better than that. I'm wondering whether I should make the 2hr drive (4 hr round trip) like another poster said and actually check the gun over before I buy? Shame as it looks like such a great .22 to shoot.

It is indeed a great 22, other than support and original assembly/quality check, the fit, finish, balance, features, it's great and really what you'd want from a 10/22.

Well, thanks to everyone who posted. I made the drive and went in person to Cabelas. SOOO glad I did. Went through 4 unopened boxes all with faults. Either the barrel was scuffed, the sight broken, loose barrel or on one the actual bolt looked like someone went to town with a hammer on it. I took the 5th one which "seems" okay to my beginner eyes. I am shocked with the QC and I just hope mine fires okay. **Edit: in the good lighting at home, I just noticed my front sight is slightly off centre. I'll strip the gun and see if I can adjust it somehow.**

A few pictures of the rifle. First picture is of the rifle brand new.

Sighted down the rifle to align the front sight.

And then it dismantled and aligned.

Having to get the fifth gun because the other brand new four were faulty is disappointing as for the price and being made in the US, I would expect much better QC. I have also noticed scratch marks where the rear peep sight was installed and dragged down the top of the receiver.

Having fired a few shots, it seems okay. I really want to love this little gun. So will be putting a fair few rounds through it.

Edit: pictures should show now
