Thompson Center's .30 TC caliber

A buddy of mine took one to S.Africa ,he ended up using the 30-06 loaner from the ph.He wasnt happy to say the least, but wtf he won the rifle at a sportsman show, and wrote hornady some nasty letters. The 30-06 got the job done.Good luck

I think the tc icon is the best built gun for the money, action is machined from a solid block of forged steel smooth action great trigger aluminum bedding block in stock, r5 rifling I have owned 4 of them in different calibers and all were very accurrate. They come with a test targest shot with factory ammo the largest test target was 0.68 inch and two were under 0.43 inch group. When they fist came out the weathershield was close to $1400.00 now they are selling for $750.00 that is alot of gun for the money.I would take one over a sako which I owned quite a few of, none shot as good as the tc icon the 30tc is a nice cartridge but it may be hard to find ammo.

Thanks Jakebreak...I'm really thinking about getting an icon in the Ultrawood. It's a damn fine looking piece of machinery and I'm really impressed with the moa guarantee. I'm not really keen on the whole proprietary ammo thing....there's not even a gun shop in my town so I'd be ordering it from god knows where. I am currently shooting a short mag in .300 and have owned 30-06's and .338 mag's...where does the recoil on a normal .300 mag sit amongst these calibres?

300 win mag is pretty similar to a 300 WSM in recoil, although theres alot of energy going at once in the Short fats which i think makes it a sharp punch.... 338 mag would recoil more with heavier bullets..

Im not sure the 30tc would be any better than a 308, 308 would be a wiser choice unless you just wanted to be different! which never hurt anyone ;)
