I am looking to buy a pistol from the above. I have looked a bunch of places and found none for sale. Anybody know who has one? Or a member on here selling one? Barrels for sale?

I have learned a little more. S&W changed the dealer model in Trudeau Land. There are 2 big dealers (distributor might be better word) as I understand it, the normal store front dealers left out in the cold, kind of deal. They get what the big guys bring in I guess. My dealer complained to S&W and it remains the same.

So basically a cluster fook it seems. I have my dealer looking, see what can be got. No word back. Sounds like the pistol is now bought as components this side of the states. Buddy tells me only calibre (I want) is 44 Rem Mag. In blued steel and 12 inch.

I was given opotion of blued steel or stainless steel. Cost $100 more for SS, price $1160 I think from memory. This is for 12 inch bbl. .44 Mag. So I said order it. No date for delivery, but that is OK. I have no money, having spent $8,000 on guns in the last month or so HaHa. What I think this is, they are making the gun from parts basically.

This is my very last hand gun purchase till we see trudeau's butt(s) out the door.

I know I am the only one posting on this but I have one more thing to say. Me, being me, and not that clever! I ordered this Pro Hunter/Encore in rifle and pistol. What I have come to conclude is this model is made for handgun hunting which we cannot do in Canada. This is why they offer .223 and .308 only in the pistol. It looks like it will work out for me but bassackwards way to do this, likely more $$ as well. I might have been better of with the G2 model in rifle and pistol. I can get the calibres I want custom made and this is the way I will go. I expect I will order a .22LR Match Grade and either a .357 Mag or a .45 LC (maybe .454 Casull). Maybe I will forget the .22LR and get the .357 and .45 LC. This would give me the calibres I want and it wouldn't be crazy expensive. About $300 USD per bbl. few weeks wait.

I'm following the thread. Thanks for posting your experiences. One question I have is who are you ordering the guns and barrels from?
I'm interested in some barrels for my original contender. I missed out on Prophet rivers consignment sale a few months ago.

I have contacted them. Basically it is the USA price X 1.8. Kind of steep I'm thinking. They might have some advice worth the price but otherwise I can do better I think.

Prophet River has a few guns and some barrels in their consignment handgun section

There is a TC Contender on Sylvesters website under used too.

I run guns will import them. A lot of the old style contenders are still around. I currently have three pistols and 10 barrels. A pre 1984 and two post 1984's. Still looking for more. I was thinking of buy a newer Encore but it is a bit of a pain getting them imported from the states especially if you request certain calibers. Still looking for a 45-70 barrel. Hopefully I will find a few more barrels I don't have. I know I bought a few off CGN so they are available. I wish some of the custom barrel makers in the US would ship to Canada then almost any caliber is available. Sisk and JDJ to name two custom shops.

Another update. Now they are telling me no joy till February I guess. Pretty much a cluster fuzk basically. Nothing ships till Feb. if than? I went to Gunbroker and I can buy the bbls. all day long. I want a .45 Long Colt bbl. The T/C bbl. is .45 Colt/.410 with a choke. And it has a weird sight setup. I want at least a real front and rear sight and/or available scope mount or red dot. It seems to me the .45 Colt/.410 would not give me a normal sight, it has a choke but is rifled.

Any idea about that setup? .45 LC/.410 with choke?

I am basically at the point where I will order custom made bbls. Thinking .357Mag, .454 Casull. The ordered gun will come with .44 RemMag.

Well another update. I waited basically 2 months and no firm delivery date. So I got a little peed off I guess. Called the owner of my dealer and asked him to get me some joy! He couldn't talk to the S&W approved dealer till yesterday due to Christmas. The order was submitted but the approved dealer did nothing till they got $50,000 worth of orders. At this stage the order is now submitted but no date for delivery. My dealer would be stuck with my order so I didn't cancel it. S&W have really shyte the bed in my opinion. This is not customer service. My T/C Prohunter will be .44 Mag hand gun costing me $1200 or so.

If you decide you want one of these. Go to the USA and buy it. Forget Canada EH!

This is a story from h3ll at this stage. Like 3 months and nothing. I have contacted the owner of my gun shop and at the SHOT Show he cornered S&W or T/C and made a complaint about this situation. What has happened it appears is my dealer made an order, the next level made the order but the Canadian supplier did nothing. Can't get nothing from T/C is the explanation I guess. So I'm waiting still but hope there will be something firm in the next week or so. I can buy this product at gunbroker.com today and import it, might have to go this route.

Just thought I would give a little update for the T/C fans. I have ordered and expect delivery anyday two custom bbls. in .454 and .357 RemMag. I may order 10mm as well down the road. I have bought one HG scope for the above bbls. I would like a red dot but I don't know enough about them.

This sounds like the end of the line for my desire to have a T/C Encore Pro hunter HG. The Canadian dealer just will not bring these into Canada and Thompson Center does not care. Seems like they are prepared to write off Canada as a source of sales. Too bad, I have the funds saved up for it as well.

Well I got my T/C ProHunter pistol and took it to the range today. That thing is a tack driver. I was shooting 45 Long Colt out of the .454 Cansull bbl. Nice piece. I have a 3200 Elite scope on that bbl. and the .357 Rem Mag bbl. It is night or I would post a photo.
