It was ridiculous to even consider that Wolf might be reloading ammo in North America in the 21st century with corrosive primers. While not quite a physical impossibility, it is so improbable as to be nothing more than a joke.

That aside, corrosive primers are corrosive because they contain potassium perchlorate. When detonated, it decomposes to potassium chloride, a salt that is hygroscopic (will absorb moisture out of the air). Experiments done by Hatcher many decades ago showed that guns fired with corrosive primers will begin to develope rust if exposed to humidity above about 40%.

The "Wolf" referred to is the Russian Wolf, not the Kingston, Ontario Wolf.

The Russian Wolf does make salty ammo.

i shot 500 rounds from my sks with corrosive on my last trip out with it. took it apart and sprayed it all with rem oil until i had time to clean it. left it for 2 weeks and found a tiny bit of rust, but overall was fine. likely 50-60% humidity in the storage room.

It is not really "corrosive". it is "salty". the salt attracts mosture and then it rusts. On a humid day, it will rust overnight.

sorry, are you talking about Wolf reloads, or "corrosive" ammo?
