So I've done some searching on this idea and haven't found much. The one firearm I would love to own is a saiga 12.

In Canada we can't one those AK pattern shotguns, but why hasn't their been any experiments to bring the VZ platform into the fold?

The market is proving with all of these Turkish semi 12 gauges the demand is there. Any way to pitch this idea to Western rifle?

Any one wanna tell me why my thought is to crazy to work? (Technically speaking)

Cheers

Because the Turkish Mag feds only sell because they're cheap, not because they actually work reliably.

Box mag semi-auto (and pump, for that matter) shotguns in general have reliability issues. If they worked reliably, that'd be all you'd see at 3-gun matches. That includes the Saiga shotguns. When you look at the big matches, none of the top competitors use Saiga shotguns, even in unlimited class, because the lack of reliability more than negates the reload benefits.

Making VZ-58 pattern shotguns would be awfully expensive for a small market like Canada. It would gain no traction in the US, where people can get cheap(ish) Saiga shotguns.

There are going to be people who jump all over me for saying these guns are unreliable. Ok. Prove me wrong. My challenge is still out there: Show me an un-edited video of one of these things getting through 250 rounds without sh!tting the bed. Then I'll believe you.

Never had any issues with my Uzkon BR99 or Derya MK12. Had a Benelli M4, which was awesome but for the price I can get 2 MK12s and a lot of ammo. Life or death situation, my go to would be my 870, the Turkish guns are for pure fun only.

The new mag designs by browning and Mossberg give some support for engineering a mag-receiver design that might work.

If it was reliable I would definitely want one, I know several others that would too
