Thought on the Millett 1-4 DMS scope?

I am looking at a new scope for my SR-22. I have a 1x scope on it right now and hate it. The coating on the glass is too dark, and the 1x isn't good for shots at extended ranges. My primary use will be for hunting chickens, as well as plinking and occasionally punching paper.

I have never even heard of Millett scopes until recently, just looking for some feedback on quality and generally how good the scope is.

Thanks for your help guys!

I like mine

I have been using it on an M-14. The one power setting is a little blurry at the outside of the scope but I really like it. You can also try an ADM mount, I prefer that to the burris.

It's not a bad scope at all.

Pros:

- the price.
- build quality
- optics are clear
- decent adjustments
- nice reticle
- they hold their value

Cons:
- A little tunnel vision (so not super fast at 1x.)
- Heavy

On a Burris P.E.P.R. mount this setup is pretty good.

I found that because you see a fair amount of the tube you get a bit of tunnel vision:

it's not as bad as this but you get the idea:

This was 1x at ~30m and I'm holding the DMS in my hand. but you can kinda see the tube.

I find I shoot at 1x most of the time so the 4x was extra weight and I was rarely using it.

I agree with RedDuc. The only difference is I run mine at 1.5 power most of the time.

By the way RedDuc nice setup.

Has anyone used one in low light? Will I be able to see through it when looking in shadows and just before dark? This is one of my gripes about my current scope. On an overcast day, when a chicken would run under a canopy of spruce or pine, it was nearly impossible to find it in the scope. Even through I could see it fine before looking thru it. The small objective lens and light transmission are the only things that worries me about this scope.

Hmmm. the time and date stamp on my thru the lens pic is Feb 22 6:22pm

It was an overcast day.

Dunno if that helps.

I can PM you a hi-def image.

I had the opposite issue with this optic.
The illuminated reticle gets washed out to black in bright sunlight. For example at 4pm facing in the direction of sun @ 1x mag
it was difficult to quickly acquire a target. ** Compared to an Aimpoint Pro which I swapped it out for.

So I guess two more small cons:
- illuminated reticle could be brighter
- eye relief is a bit fussy (I wear bifocals so that may play in to it.)

Don't get me wrong I did like this setup but it had some limitations for my intended use.

+1 to P&D Ent. for the DMS-1 and Mystic for the P.E.P.R.

I have one in the PEPR mount as well. It's ok but I don't love it. Doesn't cost a whole lot more to get a better scope.

BTW... you said you're hunting chickens. Seems a little unsportsmanlike to add a scope when you just have to sit on the fence of the coop and blast away. I'm just sayin... ;)

Take a look through the Vortex Viper PST 1-4

I was considering the Millet, but ponied up the extra bucks after looking through them both.

Ok, I lied, I found some vortex pst scopes from the sponsors. Is it really worth an extra $250? Either way I think I'm leaning more towards the Vortex. I was really impressed with sone of their other optics, and that warranty is unbeatable!

I bought mine from WSS when they had 20% off all their optics, so it was an easy choice for me.

Whether it's worth an extra $250 is up to you. I was going to buy a used one, until I heard about Wholesale's big promo.

It would be to me if I had known then what I know now. I went the cheap route and regret it. Too lazy to sell my DMS but if I did, I'd buy the PST.
