Thoughts/experience with savage 10fp le2b?

I just bought my LE2B from P+D in Edmonton a few weeks ago. They allways treat me well there. I have nothing against Wholesale Sports and I do spend some money there but prefer to deal with people that own their business for any larger purchases.

I have not had the chance to try my rifle out yet. Probably will take it out for some coyotes between Christmas and New Years. You can expect a heavy gun when you get it all together. Mine weighs in one ounce over 14lbs. That is just fine by me but lots of my friends complain about the weight.

I can not afford the Nightforce yet either so I settled for an eGay special. I put a Barska on it for now. I am just waiting for a 20moa Badger rail to replace the temporary Weaver mounts. I had some Nightforce rings that were left over from setting up my Styer. I put a Harris bipod on it and a sling from Butler Creek.

Well i plan to purchase one this winter some time... I plan to buy from wholesale sports... unless someone can purswade me elsewhere? Whats the price on that near base max?

Actually I believe that Rick Timmins (Alberta Tactical Rifle) has one in stock. He told me he had one during the CGN crash and to the best of my knowledge he hasn't sold it. Give him a shout. Better to support him than the big box guys, IMHO.

The Near base runs about $276. The Farrell is around $100. Same quality as far as I'm concerned.

It's not a "quick detach" mag, and it's a little goofy. Legally, you would have to make your own mag froms scratch, not say take an M14 mag unpin it and modify it to never fit in a semi auto, that's a no-no.
So, unless you can make your own mag, or find a nice bolt action 10rd or 20rd mag to use, it'd be very tricky. Unfortunatly, an M14/M1A mag fits in flawlessly. There is already a metal "template" inside the stock that you just follow with your dremmel and you have a perfect magwell.

If I remember correctly there was a 10LFP with a McMillian stock for sale on the website. The stock is definitely worth the extra cash.

Just sent Rick my deposit for one, can't wait, but it is going to be a while. BigUglyMan, Farmboy, not going with a Nightforce, just can't get into them. Topping it with a Leupold Mark 4 4.5-15X50mm LR/T M1, just love the Leupy's. I think base and rings will be Badger. I can't wait.

TSE and Corlanes carry Nightforce. Last time I checked the 3.5-15x56 (the one I have) was going for $1750 or so. You could check either www.rockymountainrifles.com or http://www.theshootingedge.com/

$1750????

HOLY ####E' FOR A FRIGGIN SCOPE, DOES IT COME WITH A SATELLITE DISH AND A PLASMA SCREEN TV?

You guys must have real lives and real jobs, I'll have to put the wife to the streets again for that kind of dough or sell another testicle to the Mandarin?

Oh well, thanks anyhow, definetly going to pick up the savage though, can afford that, somewhat.

You guys looking to adopt, I,m potty trained, looking for a good home

The rifle arived today! I don't think i will buy a nightforce just yet. I think there is a ding in the crown :(

Also i see brown/copper stuff in the bore, what is that? would it be copper fowling?

Im glad i did not order from wholesale, and then get a dinged one... aleast i know i will get service.

Normal fouling. It was test fired from the factory with a proof round. You might be able to see a ring around your firing pin hole too, cause by a smoked primer.

Take a pic of the crown and show ATR. Don't panic yet, let Rick explain it to you before more comments here so as not to get others starting rumors.

Enjoy
