Thoughts/experience with savage 10fp le2b?

It's not unusual to see slight defects in the crown of a factory barrel. Doesnt mean it will hurt anything but it's disconcerning to say the least.

Hey Big JD: Make sure you rub some oil onto the outside of the barrel when you have the gun apart. I thought the barrel was coated with paint or something and it is not. I had the gun in its case travel in and out of the pickup, overnight in the cabin, at dads, and several other places exposing it to several temerature changes. Light rust coloring started on the oustside of the barrel due to some small condensation deposts caused by the temperature changes.

Ok jason... Also Joe says high... he thought the tracer rounds were neat :) Yeah it looks like some sort of paint... To bad they don't powder coat it... maby it would be to shiny.. that and you have to bake it at 400f wich may mess with temper.(we have a huge powder coating facility at work)

Mr sxyglock17 if that is your real name :) my ding seems to be in the same place as yours does. Maby someone at the savage plant has something against savages and does this on purpose?

Im not badmouthing anyone... I know it will get sorted out Rick is a standup guy. I think its a bad ding... who knows it may not effect accuracy at all... but it bothers me. It looks to me as if someone stuck a 1/4" shaft at a 20 degree angle and then taped it toward the chamber. Hoepfully i can get pictures of it this weekend.

I don't think that baking on powdercoat would mess with the steel. Rocky Mountain Rifles in Dawson offers powdercoat on some of it's rifles packages with no adverse effects. I think a matte black powdercoat would look awesome.
