Found some cheap .308 bullets online. 168gr match speers ($40) and 150gr hot cors ($44). These will be for my SKS. I shot half a box of .308 Hornady BTFMJ's and my barrel seems to group well with them, 2 MOA at best. Saves me almost $20 vs Hornady SST's .310's, also 2 MOA at best. I notice one of the Speer's aren't boat tails. Does that hinder accuracy much? Its an SKS so ultimately I'm happy with just plinking loads without having to clean the gun after every range trip but it would be nice to print some small groups. Personal goal to shoot at least one MOA group with this gun. I did the math and at 60$ a box of .310's its almost cheaper to buy steel case Norinco (13$X5) not including the primers and powder even. Also would be nice to play with some heavier bullets. although I might grab the .308 110 Vmax just for curiosity. Have you had good experiences with Speer for accuracy or hard pass?

168s are rather long for a x39. Also undersized.

Flat based bullets are your best choice. 150s would be loadable.

As for one minute groups... maybe if they are 2 shot groups?

Ha I use a scope on my SKS, If the gun is not abused, it actually has surprising potential with reloads. Similar to AK's and 300 BLK you can actually load big bullets up to sub sonics. Ive loaded 180gr in the top picture bottom is a factory round https://imgur.com/a/GyeJGeb
