I am going to order two more custom bbls. for my Thompson Center Encore. I have .454 now and .357 mag. My origional plan was 10mm and .45acp. The trouble is these are rimless cases so it is a little harder to eject and (I guess) they use the edge of the brass to seat the cartridge for depth. They say the 10 mm can shoot .40 S&W, I wonder about that. Sales guy says it might raddle around, if I remenber correctly. I have two revolvers shooting auto calibers and they use moon clips(10mm/40s&w and 45acp) the moon clips work well. I have a Ruger .357/9mm revolver and the 9mm isn't that good the hand loads can't be crimped at all or they fall too deep.

I could go .44mag and .22lr match I guess but I don't really want the 22, don't really want .41 mag either.

Thompson Center makes weird calibers that don't interest me, only one would be .44 mag. Can't see .308 in a hand gun? I already have the scopes bought for the two new bbls. so open sights not needed.

I guess the custom bbl. people make lots of .45acp, almost stock that. If the 10mm wouldn't shoot 40 short and week no biggie!

Anyway thoughts? Been churning this around in my empty head for a while now.

I always thought the "fun" with the Contender's was to get them in calibers you couldn't get in revolver/pistol...

There are a whole bunch of wildcat/silhouette rounds made from 30-30 brass, when I had access to a longer "restricted" range, I had fun with a 7mm US.
- If you reload, it's just another set of dies :yingyang:

Encore/Pro-Hunter is different platform. Not compatable. Three platforms now, Prohunter, Contender & G2 (Contender).

I have to say I am really impressed with this concept. For one thing there is a place for your other hand to grip. In a revolver there is the gap and the cylinder that revolves needing effort and precision. In semi-auto you have all those moving parts. This gun just a very fine trigger and #### the hammer. Out of the box I can group shots like I actually know what I am doing.

Who are you getting your barrels from. I am thinking of adding an encore pistol to my Contender collection. I have the the G1 's pre and post 1984. The Encore appeals to due to different and more powerful calibers. I was inquiring with I Run guns on importing a pistol but haven't decided yet. When I do they won't be pistol calibers. Odd calibers in the contender is a big plus. Once you have the dies it's just normal reloading. It is just fun to go to the range with one pistol and ten barrels. I like that the trigger can be set to what ever weight you want it. I found Pachmyer grips are a must have item with so calibers.
One thing I learned don't fire a starting load of 45-70 for Ruger rifle in a pistol. I was stupid enough once. It hurts.
