I felt a buy a gun day coming on for a while.Had a hanker'in for a lever rimfire.Hadled both the Henry and Browning and while they both cycled smooth as silk, and both great guns.I decided on a new Marlin, sight unseen I purchased one from a Bass Pro in AB.Had to have the North Haven stamp with the plant closing and all, nostalga if you will. $639 to my door.Gorgeous gun, shoulders well, good size, nice weight, heavy cycling, heavy trigger. I take it apart to clean it,it took a few wacks, its tight and noticed all internals were very sharp and left them alone for the first shoot to see if things would free up.Fires, extracts, ejects, feeds well.A few FTF's in the course of 300 or so rounds, hand is now sore.Opened it back up to clean it and noticed the lever was gouging the feeder/round lifter arm.Smoothed all sharp edges and burrs, out comes the polish, everything gets hit, much better now, with just a hand polish. Not sure if my dremel would be to much.Bottom line IMHO this is a great quality tool, beautiful exterior finish.Interior needs a little tlc.Thats fine with me,I like tuning things, makes it your own. This gun will only get better every time it is used and by the time my son passes it on to his.... If you are on the fence about which lever hotrod to buy, spend the money, you get what you pay for.You won't be sorry and neither will your grandkids.;)

Nice buy. Good price too, are they on sale? How accurate was it or were you just working out the kinks first time out at the range. The 39's have been taking a lot of heat lately in regards to Q C. But in my opinion are still at the top of the heap when it comes to rimfire lever guns. I had some issues with mine that had me wishing I bought the Browning instead but nothing I couldn't fix myself once I figured out what the problem was. Enjoy the new gun and shoot it lots.

The instore price was $549 the rest was tax and I kind of got hosed on shipping. The actions on these guns are not complicated and if you understand whats supposed to happen, you can figure it out and tune it accordingly.I plan on polishing a few of the parts with the Dremel and also want to change out the main spring to lighten the action a bit more.Have not really looked closely at accuracy yet.Just out with some good folks having some plink'in fun.

I can tell you I was having a heck of a time trying to figure out why the spent shell would not exit the gun. I fiddled with the extractor but that was fine. It wasn't until I noticed something wrong with the ejector that just brushed the shell off the extractor leaving it inside the gun and not firing it out. I filed down the bit of a bump just before the flat edge and it has worked as it should without fail ever since.
