How have people been feeling about their bctactical sks mounts? The price seems right. How is it for ease of installation, and how does it hold zero? What has been the general experience of those that have used them? Tips for installation/use? I was looking at the tapco stocks with the forward rail, is the rail plastic?

Additionally, how are the various cheaper red dot/reflex optics on the market? Total junk? Reasonably workable? Any reccomendations along those lines?

If it matters, my intended uses would be for general plinking and possibly the occassional deer hunt, in areas where 100+ yard shots would be a rarity. I already have a proper hunting rifle for areas where longer shots might be taken, and on larger animals.

This is the mount.

I have the BC tactical 858 handguard set and it is excellent quality. My rifle was out of spec and the company modified the part to fit for free so they stand behind their products and warranty. I assume the same applies to the SKS parts.

Regarding cheap red dots most are garbage and designed for airsoft. They do not stand up to the recoil of a real rifle.

Your best bet without breaking the bank on an Eotech or Aimpoint is the Vortex Sparc.

bushnell trs-25 is the cheapest red dot I would use and expect it to stay up to the recoil although I do prefer to spend a little more for the burris fast fire. Check the ee for them.
