thoughts on Bushnell AR Optics 223 1x4x24 with First Focal Plane.

I've got one. I used it for a day then put it back in the box.
The nicest I can say, it comes in a durable box.

Reticle at 1x is useless, at 4x I felt like I was trying to look around it.
Other than that it's fantastic. Make an offer? ;)

As mentioned its an odd scope. I tried to like it but nope. Took it to the range once, took it home and put it up for sale. The reticle is tiny on 1x, and massive on 4x. Eye box is tiny and if you're not perfectly centered behind it all you get is a blurry mess. The glass is great when you're centered. For how I'd use it, it was a headache waiting to happen. Its hard to find a good 1-4x without spending LR optics money. Even my Leupold VX-R Patrol 1.25-4 had some annoying quirks. Much less so than the Bushnell but still not perfect.

Don't be afraid to try out the Bushnell you mentioned I have two one of them did have to be sent back because as mentioned the rectical when lite was quite dim and the glass did not seem as clear as the other I had purchased at the same time. The replacement came back and is a very clear scope with the lite rectical brighter it sits on a t97 with flattop upper and hitting six inch plates with it out to 300 yards seems pretty easy with it. Plus if you buy new and don't like it Bushnell will refund your purchase price and evening you buy used its a transferable warranty no questions asked free replacement. I also have the little 2-7 power ar .22 Bushnell scope on a custom short barrel Dar.22 and love it super clear optics for around 145.00 bucks

I have one with the throw down PCL and illuminated BTR reticle. at 1X with the illumination, it acts like a red dot. I could see why people would complain if they had the model without the illumination. It is a little on the heavy side, but I go to the gym so it's not an issue. ;) The glass is pretty decent for the price but the field of view is a little narrow at 4x for my taste. Overall I like it and continue to use it until I can afford something better.

If you are looking for another 1-4x optic I LOVE my Millet DMR-S and it's pretty inexpensive. a littl on the heavy side but hey if you are THAT weak shoot the gun prone or benched ... jesus soldiers carry m16s with nade launcher + optic + PEQ laser + front grip so I won't complain on an optic a couple OUNCES heavier than an other.

cheers

This exactly. Works for me as a (heavy) red dot, and cleans up my vision as a regular red dot is fuzzy with my eyes.

I've got the 1-4x PCL version. The weight doesn't really bother me. At 1x it's really more like 1.5ish (+/-). In bright conditions, the light isn't visible but the reticle is still visible depending on how dark your target is. As others pointed out, at 1x the reticle acts like a RDS. At 4x, the ballistic reticle is very usable. Got no issues with that. Adjustment clicks are audible but seems a bit mushy, that's what you get for a sub $300. piece of glass. For a economical scope, the glass is surprisingly clear. There is some slight barrel distortion at the edges but nothing that really bothers me.

I took a look at one in the store and found it to be wanting. I went with Millet and recently a Vortex, both of which are fantastic IMO but twice the cost of the basic Bushnell AR223 1-4x. The Vortex has an edge on the Millet in clarity, reticle, and magnification (1-6x), but they're both really solid units all around.

It's all well and good until you try a better optic for less money that weighs half as much. At that point you realize that your rifle is a slow boat anchor that you might as well have a brick taped to.

If you're into that, have at 'er. Then again I don't have BUIS, a laser, light, bipod or toaster bolted to my heavy-ass quad rail either.

If an extra 8 ounces is a deal breaker on a scope, I think someone needs to hit the gym and not the range. bahahaha

PS: no hate here, just razzin

For the price, I don't think you can beat it. I personally have the illuminated version so it can be used as a red dot at 1 power. I can only imagine how hard it would be for quick shooting without the illuminated red dot. I use it for 3 gun out to 200 yds with no issues.
