thoughts on FEG KGPF???

This thing...

I have one. I like it, but the mags take a beating. There is no bolt hold-open, just the follower gets in the way of the bolt to hold it open. Works fine but the mags won't last forever. TSE has extra mags.

(I am going to begin doing a tactical reload when the last round is fed, so as to spare the slam on the follower.)

Feeds and shoots absolutely any 9mm I have put through it (so far no less than 3k rounds) and I am still on my 3 original mags. Though they are showing wear. Would not be as much of an issue if we could fit all 30 rounds in them!

I don't have any problem with the stock or ergonomics - I place my hand in front of the magwell (like with an AR) to hold it tight against my shoulder which is very comfortable for me.

There is a threaded hole on the bottom of the gun a couple inches or so from the front for some kind of accessory - like a vertical grip, probably.

"Cheaply made", I don't know. Probably. It is not a complicated gun. But it is very solid, and no bad workmanship that I have noticed.

My only complaint is that the firing pin - which is free-floating - tends to get fouled. A small punch is required to back out the pin that holds it captive and it can then be cleaned. I have cleaned mine 3 times probably so far. It accumulates a dark orange-ish hard crud that causes the pin to stick somewhat and not freely move (it is not rust though). It has never caused a misfire or slam-fire that I know of, however.

Unscrewing the front collar is all that is needed to remove the barrel, which can then be easily cleaned.

There is also the B&T, which I'm sure is easily four times the gun for 2x the price. Or the BRS-99 which personally *I* think is ugly (it is all in the eye of the beholder, though). But the FEG does well in value for price I think (especially if 1k is a magic do-not-cross line for you).

A drawback for some may be the lack of a rail or rail adapter. So unless you want to attach a barrel-mount or front-sight-clamped laser or something, you are stuck with iron sights. Iron sights don't bother me but it is fun to play with reflex sights and stuff, so you might want to keep that limitation in mind.
