Thoughts on Girsan MC28 9mm

I'm just looking for an affordable 9mm plinker. I've owned severial high end pistols in the past...Sig, H&K, S&W etc....but sold them off a while back as I got out of restricteds. Looking to get back into pistols without breaking the bank, I've learned I don't shoot enough to justify spending 1000+ on a handgun, looking at cheaper options to satisfy my hobbie.

There are a ton of inexpensive 9mms right now. I would encourage you to check out Canik, or you can pick up a Walther PPX or S&W M&P kit on the EE for $450-500...

All 3 are fine 9mms. The S&W trigger is a little gritty out of the box, but a cheap Apex kit makes it way better. The PPX shoots very well out of the box, and the Canik is basically a p99 clone, so you know it's good!!

The M&P is very common and there are a lot of accessories for it... The PPX and Canik not as many. I'm pretty active on the range, and haven't noticed any of the Girsans out there.

I have the new M&P9 "2.0" and the trigger on it is fine. I have about 1000 rounds through my now and it's a solid handgun. Unless you are a shooter that can group 1" at 10 yards with every gun other than the M&P, stop this whole "gritty" trigger haha.

I haven't tried their polymer pistol yet but my Girsan Beretta copy is a an outstanding gun (and I do have a real Beretta too). Value for money cant be beat!

This! My Girsan Compact has been a great little gun. Very well made, fit and finish are excellent.

I’ve heard that cz 85 magazines fit it, but I’ve also experienced heard that it has proprietary mags .... so not sure.

These pistols were real cheap recently ..... not much info out on them though.

SFRC has the Girsan MC28 9mm's for $399.95 with free shipping right now, 3 colors available to.

It’s being called an M&P clone by some .... another YouTube video compares the parts which appear the same, but are thicker on the Girsan and barrels don’t switch out.

I have ordered one mostly because reviews on the web are pretty good. As soon as it gets here i will post my thoughts on it. I think girsan has a pretty good rep for most of their pistols.

Just picked mine up from The Powder Keg in Kamloops on Monday and can't wait to get it out to the range. I traded my SD9 VE in because
the Girsan fits my hand like they made it for me. It has machined parts inside and not stamped steel. If this gun shoots as good as it feels and
looks to be built I know I will have made the right choice. I got the Jet Black one on the left.

Mine came with everything shown, my SD9 came in a box with 2 mags and a crappy cable lock, the MC-28 comes with so much more and they are the same price..

I forgot to mention that I picked up a holster for a S&W M&P 9mm and the MC-28 fits like it was made for it, now I need to try a clip from a M&P to see if that works.

Girsan makes excellent firearms. I own a Beretta Centurian copy and it is a quality pistol. My only worry is a source for parts if any every break, In my case I believe most Beretta parts will fit but other guns in their line I am not so sure about.

Looks like you have a winner.

New and used M&P's go for under $600 and you know you can get parts for the guns as well as holsters etc. There was a used M&P on the exchange for $450. How much is too much?
