Looking for a scope for my Ruger American Ranch in 5.56/.223. This Nikon scope seems a bit heavier than I'd like, but I really like some of the features.

What are your thoughts on this optic?

Worthwhile alternatives in the same price range? Would like something with side focus paralax adjustment.

Thanks.

A friend of mine has that scope. I have the Bushnell AR optics equivalent.

They are fairly comparable. Eye relief on the Nikon is slightly longer. Bushnell is 1 oz lighter. FoV on the Nikon is a touch wider. Bushnell has better windage adjustment. Nikon is a little bit better glass, but more expensive.

If you are going to be reaching out past 200m with this scope, you should consider the parallax adjustment mandatory.

I forgot I also have the same as Cameron SS. Took a look through both. Nikon is better glass IMO. Agree also a parallax adjustable scope is a good idea.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I won't even be able to get this scope anyway. Bass Pro had them on sale, but upon attempting to order one, I was informed that they can't actually bring any in to the Canadian stores. Can't find anywhere else that has them.

Try prophet river, i have the M223 on top of a rem 700 SPS Tac in .223. I don't have the BDC , rather the one that you turn the dial to range it. I've had it out to 600yrds with out issues. love the Nikon scopes. just ordered one for my other .223 today from Prophet.
