Thoughts on Nikon Monarch M5 3-12 or 4-16?

Anyone have any first hand experience or knowledge of either of these scopes? I've been looking for a reasonable sized scope with side parallax adjustment without the large exposed turrets that seem common on most others. I also like the look of the MOA reticle as it seems pretty functional

I have used and owned a fair share of Leupold and Sightron rifle scopes but never a Nikon. What can you tell me about them, or perhaps other options to consider. Thanks!

I've hunted hard (except this year) with a ruger m77 mkII 7mm rem mag wearing a Nikon M3 4-16 x 42 (Nplex).
I would field anything in the Monarch series with confidence.
What I really liked is how my scope tracked perfectly with the Nikon Spot On app , which I thought was just another gimmick until I put it to use in the field with my rifle/scope and bullet combo.
I know it's not first hand M5 experience but I can only see the M5 as being a step up from the M3.
money well spent as far as I'm concerned.

hey Deerfarmer , I mounted a Nikon FX 1000 6-24x50 mrad on my Finnfire Sako . Good resolution , sharp reticle, I haven't had any prob's , just a great all round scope .

I have several rifles with Nikon Monarchs on them. I find them one of the clearest and most trouble free scopes out there for the price. I have never had a problem with one. I would recommend them anytime.

I have a Nikon M5 in 4-16x44 and it's a lovely scope. The turrets are accurate as well. Mine has the BDC and combined with the Nikon Spot on app it works great! Great scope for hunting, not so great for target shooting though. the reticle is a little bit on the thick side. But that means that out in the filed you can see the reticle even against dark backgrounds.

I have 2 Nikon scopes currently, an FX1000 MRAD and a Monarch 5 2-10x42 Advanced BDC. The spot on App as Thomas pointed out earlier works well in the field. I have Bushnell Elite 3500 and 6500 scopes, have had Leupold VX2 and VX3i. The glass on the Nikon scopes is excellent and they track perfectly. Much better turrets that the VX2 and VX3i as well. Love the forgiveness of the eye box as well on the Monarch series. Great scopes.

That is exactly what I needed to know. I will be ordering one. I have been playing around with the Spot On app--its excellent. I wish Nikon didn't drop out of the scope scene.

Nikon is out of the rifle scope game, they are discontinued. Whatever is left on the shelves is all thats left.
