As 300 becomes my new 100 and I am more often warming up at 600 and then shooting at 1000 i'm trying to get a little more out of my handloading.

1) I was wondering if anyone has any good load suggestions?

Rifle:Savage 111 Long Range Hunter
Barrel:26"
Cal:.300 win mag
Scope: Millett 4-16x56mm

Currently I'm loading 180grain Hornady SST's and I have Berger 190grain VLDs.

2) Does anyone have any thoughts on Reloader 17 for a magnum long range load?

Thanks. Any info would be helpful.

Try Sierra accuracy loads

When it comes to accuracy I start with Sierra Manual accuracy loads and then only try Lyman's most accurate loads.
I've been using this scheme on pistols and rifles for 25 years and it (almost) never fails.
As for powders, I'm an Hodgdon Extreme Powder fan since I shoot from -35C to 35C and have had weird experiences with ball propellant.

I tried it in my sako 300wsm and had only marginal success. I found some good groups at a point were I also found some sticky bolts so thus ended that. I do use it in my 260 with good results however. Good luck.

I would use the 208 amax (best BC and able to use for game) with Retumbo, 215M primers. Measure your distance to the lands with that bullet, and if you can load .030" off to start with and have it fit in the magazine, start there. Uniform the primer pockets each time the brass is loaded.

The suggestions some have made here are good. RL 17 is just a tad quick in the 300 Win Mag with any bullet over 150 grains or so.
I have had the best success in the 300 Win and 180-200 grain bullets with IMR4831, H4831, N205, RL22, VV N165, IMR7828, H1000, RL25.
Retumbo works as well, but is compressed a fair bit with longer bullets and shorter magazines.
