I'm particularly interest in Savage 110 High Country. Just want some peer review.

Does 110 action have any feeding, extraction or ejection issue? Accuracy from a factory 110 barrel (5 shot)? Any problem with the 110 rifles?

Savages are well known for their accuracy. Function (feeding, ejection, etc) also tends to be good on them. Their detractors tend to point out that they are ugly, or unrefined, but if all you care about is an affordable, accurate gun, then you can do worse than a Savage 110. However for the price of the High Country model you can probably do better.

What specifically makes you interested in the high Country over other 110 series rifles?

Savage Rifles don't have the most reliable extraction/ejection. Mine was pretty poor, they just sent me a replacement extractor and ejector, still pretty weak, but it's been reliable since. As for Accuracy with Handloads should be MOA or better, but I wouldn't expect better than 3/4 MOA, even though you may get it.

yeah, their action is ugly, but 110 High Country is affordable at $1200. I don't babe my rifles, so I want stainless steel action+barrel, decent trigger, aluminum bedding block, fiber reinforced plastics (or any decent proprietary plastic) stock, adjustable cheek riser, 20'' barrel.

6061 aluminum is pine of alloys. They easily get scratch up, and not comfortable to touch. so I don't consider any chassis rifle. Also I shoot off my bag, not really concerned about fore grip touching the barrel.

I think the Savage factory stock is solid enough that it won't shift the point of impact under the recoil of 6.5CM. If the rifle doesn't shoot, I only have to change the barrel.

at $1200, I'm willing to try my luck on the factory barrel, if it doesn't work out, I can drop in a prefit barrel. 0.75moa 5 shot is my goal.

which rifle do you recommend at this price range?

@redshooter
Which model is your rifle?

I have a 110 tactical that has been great. It's a factory heavy barrel, but gets 2/3 moa with hand loads. Feeds, extracts, ejects, etc reliably. Not the smoothest or prettiest, but it sure works.

Thank you, 110 is a newer line of product, hopefully they made improvements to the 110 action. If I get a chance I will test the action in store.

I believe the action is the same. They switched their naming system and started calling everything a 110 recently, but I'm not aware of any actual action changes that came with it.

It used to be that a model 10 was a short action, blued finish. A model 110 was long action, blued finish. A 116/16 was stainless in long/short action. And so on. Now... they're all just 110's. They are still producing some models under the old naming system, but anything "new" is a 110.

They also didn't change the naming system when they actually did make changes to the action in the past. Bolt changes, bolt release changes (side/bottom), trigger changes, etc over the years but all sold as model 10's. So their naming system doesn't mean a whole lot.
