I seen a model 170 pump in 30-30 for sale it looks like a nice little gun. wondering what your thoughts are on this one. Are they reliable or a jammer.
Thanks

I never seen one but from what I've read they are fairly rare.
They had a tubular mag, seems there might be a problem with the rimmed 30-30 cases jamming.

As you can read from this thread

You could ask the seller for a demo to be sure it feeds OK.

I know MadDog had at least one of them, try asking him. I wanted one of those in the seventies and never did get one. I'd snap one up at the right price.
They were an inexpensive rifle when new, and not big sellers. I'd call them "uncommon" more than "rare".

Wow, the guy that wrote alot of that info in that G&G thread sure does know his stuff.

I still have my 170 in 35 Rem, I'll never get rid of that gun.

It's topped with a Savage 4X scope with post and crosshair, my little brush buster for pushing the deer out to the fields in deer season. The pic shows the old Buehler 1 piece mount I once had on it, I've since changed it to a two piece Redfield Jr mount and rings. Easy gun to find mounts for because it takes the same mounts as the Remington 740 and 760. I sold the 170 in 30-30 to DizzyDan IIRC when I got the 35.
