Benelli MR1

I own the 16" (Restricted) barrel model. nice rifle. I find the ergonomics comfortable and practical, from the pistol grip to the texture of the forestock. the sights remind me of a Beretta Storm, and while not perfect, they work fine for me (only problem is mounting a scope/holosight on the top-rail, blocks out the iron sights) The ARGO systems eats up the recoil (not that 223 kicks much anyway), making follow up shots more manageable. ambi-mag release and slide stop. Overall, a nice semi-auto from Benelli, worth the money for a mid-range priced 223...more than a Ruger, but less than a Swiss Arms. I also prefer the shorter barrel model, even if it is Restricted.

My mr1 is the first semi auto rifle so I don't have much to compare it to. I sighted it in on an indoor 40yrd range and was making 1/2" groups with a 4x scope. Took it out this spring and shot 100 rounds at 200 yards without adjusting the scope at all and was making 4" groups. Weather I'm shooting gophers of coyotes these are still kill shots and damn good for a semi auto rifle. I have shot about a thousand rounds to date with no problems.

My 580 series mini will easily do that. A $1700 gun should do a heck of a lot better in my opinion.

Between $800-900 I would grab one, reminds me of my Storm, but yea it's pretty pricey, mind you so are AR-180B, not many options for a NR .223 semi out there below $2,000
