Looking to replace the 9mm which I sold a while back. Wondering how the APX compares to the Walther PDP. Not sure I'm loving the serrations but that's more aesthetics than function.

Feedback appreciated.

Love this platform, heard good things too about the PDP but haven't handled one. APX serrations do serve a functional purpose but even if they didn't, I happen to think they look awesome. My APXs do not enjoy unlacquered, steel cased ammunition but have not failed me otherwise. If only the mags would fit the FX9, I would sell my Glock today.

I run a Q5 Match and believe the Walther offerings are amongst the best. The APX is nice, but the Walthers fit my hands better, and that trigger is just so sweet!!!!

The PDP is so new that very few have shot or handled them, that being said I shot an APX once and was sold. It handles recoil better than any other polymer framed pistol I own and is probably the best shooter I have. That being said the mags are crazy expensive with no aftermarket alternative and adding to that there is almost zero aftermarket parts for customization if that's what you are into.

Thanks for the feedback so far. Will be handling (but not shooting) the PDP and APX tomorrow morning. As some have alluded to, if it doesn't feel right in my hands that's pretty much a deal breaker. Loved the looks of my 92FS INOX but never got used to the trigger pull and the gun itself was definitely on the heavy side. Best gun for feel and looks was my old p99 which I regret selling to this day. Anyway, it was 40cal and I wouldn't do that again.

The APX is a fantastic pistol. I have not had a single issue with mine and is my go to 9mm. So much so I got rid of my other 9's. While the slide serations are at first weird to get used to, I grew to love them. I call mine the tactical Toblerone. I also have a Roni frame for mine. It runs great in that to.

I have shot an APX and I own a PDP. Both are great firearms but the trigger on the PDP with its short reset is probably the best out of the box trigger on the market. The APX felt good and was easy to manipulate during my training exercises.

In regards to the PPQ Navy it has a threaded barrel so you can attach a compensator. From what I have read the Navy model has a Tennifer finish and it has a drain hole on the slide as well. In my opinion if you can get a good deal on an APX,PDP or PPQ you can go wrong. The most important thing is to see how they fix in you hand for comfort.

I wish someone had introduced me to Walther years ago.

nitroxace got to it before me... Navy is a fine variant. I prefer the M1 version with the European paddle mag release rather than the more common M2 thumb release. That could be a consideration if you liked it on your p99.

Phat Eagle I have to agree with you on the M1 version paddle release. I prefer them.

Tried out a P320, PDP, PPQ, P99, and APX today. PDP and PPQ made the short list. Hard to pass up the new PDP for $200-$300 bucks more. Hurts to pay the tax on the new model though.
