well their literature says that it holds zero so there ;)

So i guess you are saying it is not worth the US$1300 eh?

oh that was low...but in a good way ;)

The whole reason for it, is that when your looking over the sights in FIBUA you have some sort of quick reaction sights. So you dont have to look into the sight.

Elcan = fast loss of 0

But man if they would fix that the Spectre is sure what we always wanted.

1x -4x range (with a quick switch is GREAT!):)

non-rubber back-up sights :) (how hard was that? )

AOV/FOV of a Elcan has always been great. ;)

I just about sh@t myself when I though it came with a range finder!!! But alas no go. :(

Well they are heading in the right direction. :) If only they could combine the holographic technology of a eotech in 1x I would be in heaven (wouldn't we all be).

Heck might as well add in integral NV while I am at it. Perhaps I am a few years ahead of myself.

I Love my Elcan, at work and on my Bushie. I think the only thing it was missing was a good backup sight (not rubber) and a cqb setting.

And now it has it!

True, they did fix the BUIS issue, but I'm not even sure you can call the "nubs" on the C79 battle sights anyways :p
But KevinB is right, the sight doesn't hold a zero. Some of the scopes work fine all the time, and almost all them hold their zero as long as you never switch back & forth from 1-4X. But when you do switch, most of the scopes have a different POI on 4X than they do on 1X, and many lose their zero completely after switching back & forth more than twice. another nice feature is the illuminated reticle option. You can illuminate the cross hairs, or JUST the dot in the centre. With the dot on full power, it's a lot like an Aimpoint.
If they can ever get their "flip concept" to work, it will be a great sight

Problem with Elcan is that they try to use gross mechanical adjustments to change things like zero and magnicication. These mechanical parts are somewhat exposed and so they cause the scope to fail. The Russuans are playing with this on some of their newer scopes but I think they will run into the same issues.

For just under $2k you can get some very nice battle proven optics. I haven't heard much about them but aimpoint makes a 2 power red dot that I really want to try. Unless you're shooting out past 200m 2 power is more then enough.

so far all 2x red dots were too dim to work in low light conditions. I never tried eotech though but it should be the same thing - if you magnify something than it has to be with smaller exit pupil or you loose a few lumens of light.

I just purchased one the other day, I am looking forward to trying it out.

I know that my "range report" will not count one bit compared to some of the reports that others will give (KevinB for example) but I have it, it looks nice, and I will put it through alot of rounds like I did with my ACOG.

My 553 is still my favorite optic though, perhaps I should have put my money into the 4x flip up... problem is that I like my sights in the back, the flip up forces me to put the sight up front.

Cheers,

Elcan made the DR as an entry into the competition to provide SOCOM with a new weapon sight (SOPMOD Block 3). The request was to build a sight that would provide both relex and magnified (4x) ability in one unit. Also they asked that buis be present. Elcan won the contract and the DR is replacing many Trijicon units currently in the field.........The DR was pitted against the ACOG ECOS and many others and came out on top.

I have seen some guys running a DOC on top of the DR as well. Reason being, these shooters have simply become accustomed to ACOG`s with red dots mounted top side and are now comfortable with this config....

I have ditched my TA31RCO M4/ DOC 7 moa setup for a Spectre DR with ARD.

I love to buy Canadian too!!!!!
