thoughts on the Ruger SR-22 pistol?

when I saw it, I thought it was hideous. saw one in person at J & E in Rupert and in person it's not so bad. eve better is that it felt good in my small hands.

how does it shoot? is it accurate? how does it stack up to something like the M&P 22? I had one of those, it was nice, but was far from accurate compared to my Browning 1911-22 or Ruger Mark III and 22/45 Mk III.

I'm following this because I'm also pondering one... I understand that they are double action, so you can shoot any cheap bulk crap ammo and still have it all go bang.

double action will do no good if you have a light primer strike or faulty primer, which are the two biggest reasons rimfire ammo doesn't go off. :p

My wife has one and it's been pretty solid. Reliable, accurate, and super easy to clean.

She bought it before Ruger came out with the MKIV, I'd probably go with that now.

I bought one for my daughter and it has been a great little pistol. Very accurate and reliable with much better sights than the Browning 1911-22. The Ruger SR22 grip makes the pistol very comfortable to hold and shoot. I put a fiber optic front sight on the Ruger SR22 and it works awesome, "it really glows" as my daughter says. The trigger is good in single action but stacks horribly in double action. I have not been able to find a good way to mount a red dot sight to the Ruger SR22 so keep that in mind if you are wanting to go that route. Hope this helps, good luck!

single action is very accurate for mine. Double action is not bad. I first thought it must be so tiny in my hand... actually it is fine as long as you use the correct mag baseplates.

Only thing I hate is the flipped direction of the de-cocker. If you got used to 1911 or etc it will be an issue at first; otherwise it is fine.

Being a huge fan of the Ruger MkII standard & MkIII 22/45 semi-auto .22lr's I think I'd pass on the SR22 myself.

I like the look of the US version better, the Cdn version with the barrel sticking out takes away some of the cool factor IMHO. Never shot it though...

My friend has one and it’s extremely small. Otherwise it feeds reliably and is accurate.
I would consider it for kids learning to shoot or have fun or a small framed adult.

The s&W victory is my choice for a .22 pistol. I LOVE LOVE mine!

Not likely because it will strike in the exact same location.

In my experience, .22LR revolvers that have misfiring rounds discharge them (the second time around), 99 times out of 100, when the hammer strikes the rim again in the exact same location.

YMMV

I have one without the barrel sticking out the end so it looks really slick. It’s really accurate and have not found an ammo it doesn’t like. There is a company in the states that sells accessories for it so there’s that too. It took about ~1500 rounds for mine to get so dirty that it had any feeding issues. Cleaned it right up and went back to painting with it.

Oh really...thought the Cdn version had to be a bit longer, good to know.
