Just want to make sure sure I'm not wasting any money here. I've wanted a decent 338 lapua for some time now and in south paw it's been hard to find.

6.5 Creedmore is more than adequate for 1000m out of the right rifle. If you have somewhere to shoot 2000m go ahead. BTW the poor bastards shooting next to you on the line will hate you. The 338 LM is a grenade.

And obviously a pro-firearms spouse who is giving you an great father's day present... I'd say it is a no brainer - that is a lovely rifle! And there is no money to waste, as you are not paying for it.. :d
 
Hey If its what you want you better get it ordered. Don't listen to the ones saying other rifles can do the same thing as they might be jealous. Sure any rifle can do a 1000, heck my 30-30 can send a bullet that far but its not a 338 lapua.

What is a 6.5x47/ .338 Lapua rifle. List caliber as 6.5x47 and .338 Lapua. And for that kind of money you can get a custom made rifle to your specs.
 
You won't be disappointed with Desert Tech. And the nice part is that you can easily change calibers if you want. They are a quality rifle. IIHO they are the nicest production rifle out there - but that's just me. As pointed out, you can get a custom rifle for that price.....but not a custom bull-pup.

As for the 338/6.5X47. From the look of it it already comes with a conversion kit. So you already have 2 calibers to start with.
 
You know the old saying "if it is to good to be true...."
By that I mean it being a lefty and it was so easy to find....
Hell, you have permission from the Happy Wife why isnt the road on fire from you running down the road on the JD 5010 to pick this baby up?

If it is indeed a .338 LM and a 6.5 x 47 Lapua, then that is an amazing setup. 2 of the best calibers around for accuracy. If I were left handed, I would seriously consider it. Desert Tech makes very good rifles from what I've heard.
 
You really can't lose. Last time I looked conversion kits were running about $2K + each. That's not counting the base chassis/action......and it's all se up for a lefty, which makes them even harder to come by.
