Thread protector

I tried out a new type of ammo today, thought it was shooting poorly (2" @ 200m). Checked my rifle, and the thread protector was very loose. Hand tightened it and tossed a .600 group at 200 meter with a flier that was my fault. I am assuming either I forgot how to shoot at the beginning, or the thread protector really messed up my groups, so I'm looking to take the protector out of the equation.

I've only had it on hand tight so far. I've about taking a wrench to it and really get it on, but I am sure it will work loose again. Should I add anything? A few wraps of teflon tape or loctite ?

Recce (gaffers) tape should do it. I use it to lock stuff down on my rig, stays put.

All I did in my DT was add a bit of oil to threads and put on a glove and cranked the crap outta it. I had to use a cloth and pliers to remove when I got my brake.
