Just got my G19TB and everyones who got theirs seems to make a point of getting a threads protector for it. Is it just a "look" thing or do it serve a real purpose?
I mean, yeah, obviously they protect the thread! But protect from what? Kydex/leather/nylon holsters will not hurt the threads. Even in shooting sports like IPDA and IPSC, wood barricade, if you tap the muzzle on it, will not damage the threads neither.

I don't criticize the choices of others, i am genuinely curious of the motivation. If you think it look good it's ok, we all make some cosmetics mods to our firearms.

Do you know how easy is to damage threads??

You could damage it almost at any table (unless really soft wood)

Honestly, i didn't know. I tought that barrels was made of some sort of hardened steel and it was vey solid. Guess i will need one too. They are like 25$ anyway.

The barrel is, but look how small and fragile the threads are. You want good strong threads so that it eliminates any whoopsies like cross-threading something, or things becoming loose.

These G19's don't come with a thread protector? Weak.

Hitting the threads on wood is fine, but there are lots of screws/nails holding the structures together, and those will damage threads easily. It's worth a couple extra bucks for piece of mind if it's not standard equipment.

Damaged threads = repair cost or lower resale value... and you can't screw on your imaginary suppressors.

In fact, it came with a flimsy plastic protector, but it's only good for shipping/storing and not actual firing. I get the Tornado Technology. 27$ shipped to Canada. I speak with the girl there and she told me that she had to process like 25 orders to Canada just today! LOL

A plastic thread protector is standard?? that's a ####-move from Glock. Way to save a couple bucks.

You should just drill out an AR flash hider and screw that on :ninja:

780$ for the G19, 25$ for a thread protector. Still cheaper than a used gen 2 on the EE. lol
